Getting Started
New to TRT? Start Here
How do I know if I might have low testosterone?
Common signs include persistent fatigue, reduced muscle mass, brain fog, low libido, mood changes, and poor sleep. If you’re experiencing three or more of these, a simple blood test can confirm where your levels stand. You can also take our free Health & Vitality Audit for a quick personalized snapshot.
What does the process look like from first contact to treatment?
We start with a comprehensive lab panel to assess your hormone levels. Dr. Rovenstine reviews your results personally and builds a customized treatment plan. Once you’re ready, medications are delivered monthly to your door — and we monitor your progress until you’re optimized.
Do I need a referral from my primary care doctor?
No referral is required. You can contact us directly to schedule your initial consultation with Dr. Rovenstine.
Where are you located — and can we do this via telemedicine?
We are based in the Kansas City area (Overland Park, KS) with plans to expand. Your initial consultation will be in-person with Dr. Rovenstine. After that, most ongoing communication can happen by phone, text, or email. An annual in-person visit is required. Contact us to confirm we can serve your state.
Can women benefit from testosterone therapy?
Women can benefit from testosterone therapy and we have plans to expand our services to meet women’s health needs. Check back with us for anticipated updates.
What information do I need to provide to get started?
We ask you to complete a health questionnaire along with your contact information and payment method so we can schedule your consultation and arrange ongoing checkups.
Can you help with medications beyond hormone therapy?
We focus on men’s health and hormone optimization. If you have other concerns, we’ll encourage you to work with your PCP for those. Think of us as your dedicated health partner for hormone optimization — not a general practice.
Testing & Diagnosis
Lab Work & What We Measure
What does your lab panel test for?
Our comprehensive panel covers total and free testosterone, SHBG, estradiol, LH, FSH, thyroid function (TSH, free T3, free T4), DHEA-S, PSA, CBC, and a full metabolic panel. This gives us a complete hormonal and metabolic picture — not just a single data point.
My doctor says my levels are 'normal' — can I still benefit?
Standard ‘normal ranges’ are very broad — based on population averages across all ages, not on what’s optimal for how you want to feel. A 65-year-old and a 25-year-old can both be ‘normal’ with vastly different levels. We focus on optimizing to where you actually feel your best, not just landing within the reference range.
Do I need to fast before my blood draw?
For the most accurate results, we recommend fasting at least 8 hours and drawing blood in the morning before 10am, when testosterone is naturally at its highest.
How long does it take to get lab results?
Results typically return within 3–5 business days. Dr. Rovenstine reviews them personally and walks you through everything in plain language during your consultation.
Where do I get my blood drawn?
Complete Plan clients have labs coordinated through our lab partners. Base Plan clients visit a local lab, where we provide a lab order and guidance.
What testosterone level is considered 'optimal'?
Most men feel their best with total testosterone in the 700–1,100 ng/dL range, but we look at the full picture: free testosterone, SHBG, and estrogen balance all influence how you actually feel. The goal is your best self, not a textbook number.
Treatment
What Your Protocol Looks Like
What form of testosterone do you prescribe?
We use topical and injectable testosterone options — We will find the most effective and cost-efficient delivery method, sourced from licensed compounding pharmacies.
What is DHEA and why is it included?
DHEA is a natural hormone that declines with age, serving as a precursor to both testosterone and estrogen. It supports energy, mood, and immune function. Including it alongside testosterone helps create a more balanced hormonal environment.
Do you address other hormones like thyroid or estrogen?
Yes. Our evaluation includes thyroid function, estradiol, and other key markers. When we identify imbalances contributing to your symptoms, we address them as part of your overall optimization plan.
How are medications delivered?
Your monthly medications ship directly to your home through a licensed compounding pharmacy — discreetly, with no pharmacy trips required.
What other treatments can Roving Rock Med help with?
We also assist with: ED medications (Viagra or Cialis) at discounted pricing, weight loss medications or supplements, basic hair loss treatments, and access to the Designs for Health supplement store and Rupa Health for self-directed lab testing.
Pricing & Plans
Costs & Payment Options
How much does treatment cost?
Base Plan
Year 1: $200/month | Year 2+: $180/month
Includes: Monthly testosterone + DHEA to your home, annual in-person consult.
Labs not included.
Complete Plan
Year 1: $250/month | Year 2+: $230/month

Are lab fees included in the monthly plan?
The Complete Plan includes initial labs plus up to 3 repeat labs. The Base Plan does not include labs — you’ll pay separately at a local lab. Periodic lab evaluations are not included in either plan, though you can use HSA/FSA for those costs.
Do you accept health insurance?
We do not accept insurance. We operate on a direct-pay model to keep costs transparent and eliminate the administrative overhead that inflates prices in traditional practices.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
In most cases, yes — especially for periodic lab evaluation fees. We recommend checking with your plan administrator to confirm eligibility.
What if I need to pause or cancel?
No long-term contract. Cancel at any time and billing stops for the next cycle. When you’re ready to restart, we’ll pick right back up with a current lab draw.
Safety & Results
What to Expect
How safe is TRT?
TRT has been practiced safely in medicine for decades. Risks are low, and we provide ongoing medical oversight — monitoring your levels throughout — to ensure safe, effective treatment. Replacing deficient testosterone with bio-identical hormones is no different from taking thyroid hormone or insulin.
Is TRT legal?
Yes. When prescribed by a licensed physician with DEA certification, testosterone replacement therapy is entirely legal.
Will TRT affect my fertility?
TRT can suppress natural sperm production. If preserving fertility is a concern, discuss this with Dr. Rovenstine before starting — there are approaches that support both optimization and fertility simultaneously.
What are the typical benefits?
- Increased muscle strength and lean body mass
- Improved sexual function and libido
- Better mood, focus, and memory
- Increased energy and stamina
- Stronger bones and reduced joint pain
- Greater drive and motivation
How long until I feel results?
Most men notice a shift in mental clarity within 4–5 days. Physical changes — muscle mass, body composition — typically take 4–6 months. TRT amplifies the results of healthy habits; it’s not a substitute for them.
What side effects should I know about?
When levels are properly monitored, side effects are uncommon. Some men whose levels run too high may experience mild acne or slight hair thinning. Because this is a bio-identical hormone, the body generally responds well under proper oversight.
What if my levels are only slightly low?
Lab numbers are one input — how you actually feel matters just as much. Some men with borderline levels feel significantly better with optimization. Others may benefit from lifestyle changes first. We’ll have an honest, no-pressure conversation about what’s right for you.
Your Commitment
Contracts & Long-Term Care
Is there a long-term contract?
No contract. You can stop at any time and billing stops for the next cycle. We believe our results speak for themselves.
Once I start TRT, do I have to stay on it for life?
No. You can stop at any time and your body will return to its previous hormone levels. Many men choose to continue long-term because of sustained quality-of-life improvements — but that decision is always yours.
How often do I check in with Dr. Rovenstine?
After your initial consultation, we check in after month one and periodically as your protocol is adjusted. Once optimized, you’ll have a lab draw and check-in every six months. An annual in-person visit is required.
What if I travel or spend time out of state?
Dr. Rovenstine is licensed in multiple states, and most ongoing communication happens remotely. Contact us to confirm we can serve your specific state.
Can I refer friends or family?
Yes — and we reward you for it. Refer a friend and receive a $100 credit applied to your next monthly charge.
